This is to inform you that the NIE (Newspaper in Education), TIMES OF INDIA group, is organizing inter school contests on Article writing competition and News Bulletin Anchor competition, for students of CBSE classes V to XII and Cambridge grades 5 to A level, in this month (JULY 2020). If your ward is interested to participate in the same then please go through the details.
1. ARTICLE WRITING COMPETITION
Writing is one of the best forms of expression. This competition aims to encourage young readers to share their views on a relevant topic through their language skills.
Format – Students need to write their articles in the Google document sheet which is pasted below or can be accessed on the link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CLCTTEhR7afl9qBsTFqJ9viUQWgZpK3i9wJ6ZUPOTbs/edit along with their details such as name, class, section and school name, scan the sheet and send the same via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students can use the sheet below or download the Google Document sheet from the same link and save it in MS Word format. They can type all the details, their article in the MS Word document and email to email@example.com.
Categories – classes V to VII & grades 5 to 7(Juniors)
- Tell us a memorable chapter from your quarantine diary. (For Junior category)
Classes VIII to XII and grades 8 to A level(Seniors)
- How the lockdown has impacted your life? (For Senior category)
Language for Articles – English
Word Limit – 250 words max
File to be sent – Scanned image of the answer sheet or a word file through email
Size of the file – 2 MB max
Last Date for sending entries/articles – July 12, Sunday
Students need to send the articles in the attached ANSWER SHEET form by filling in all the details asked in the form. The articles will be evaluated by the Editorial board of Times of India and will be scored on the parameters of crisp language, grammar and legible handwriting.
The best three articles from Juniors and Seniors category each will be declared as the winners. Seven articles from each category will get a special mention. All the winners will not only get exciting prizes but will also get featured in their edition and website.
NEWS BULLETIN ANCHOR ( Classes 5 to 12)
This will be an excellent opportunity for students aspiring to be journalist or TV anchor in the future. It will help them explore their craft in this genre.
Format – Students need to read the top news from the latest Times NIE PDF edition or The Times of India newspaper just like professional bulletin anchors on News Channels. They must record a video (1 min max) of them doing so and send it to email id firstname.lastname@example.org.
In the video they must introduce themselves by mentioning their full name, class and school name in the beginning. The participants will be evaluated on the basis of their creativity and confidence while reading out the news. The Bulletin must comprise news from Times NIE pdf edition or The Times of India newspaper only.
Category – No specific categories. Students from any classes can send their videos.
Duration – 1 min max
Video file format – MP4 format
Size of the video file – within 25 MB
Last Date for sending entries/articles – July 18, Saturday
The best 5 videos will be declared as the winners. The winners will not only get exciting prizes but will also get featured in their edition and website.
